Post Traumatic  Macular Scar.

a-Blunt trauma and visual loss in the right eye ,Note the atrophy  of the retinal pigment epithelium ,cystic degeneration, preretinal hemorrhage ,optic disc atrophy.

b-Extensive scars and atrophy of the RPE , the sparing part in the macula did not prevent visual loss.

c- Deteriorated vision due to the presence of the scar in the papillomacular bundle.

d-Extensive scarring and optic disc atrophy.

e-Reffractile bodies like lesions , the  reflection arises from the white sclera.

Avulsion of the optic disc.

Trauma which lead to sudden increase in intraocular pressure causing rupture  of the lamina cribrosa ( expulsion) rather than ( avulsion) .

A tear in  the lamina cribrosa and nerve fibers at the disc margin occurs.

Associated with hemorrhage in the disc margin .

Optic disc atrophy ,post traumatic.

Blunt injuries ,particularly to the forhead, may cause loss of vision ,Note the pale optic disc which occur several weeks after the injury.

Remember Immediate loss of vision to no light perception means poor prognosis for recovery.

Retinal hemorrhage.

a,-Subretinal Hemorrhage

The level of this hemorrhage is under the retinal pigment epithelium anterior to the bruch's membrane

Note the darkness of the clot.

Purtscher's Retinopathy.

Following sever compression injury to the head or trunk, the patient may experience visual loss ,The  characteristic ophthalmoscopic findings in Purtscher's retinopathy include multiple  superficial retinal whitening and retinal hemorrhages  surrounding the optic nerve.

Vascular occlusion and

hemorrhage.

Obliterated vessels in the retina , hemorrhage inferior to the macula and macular Oedema  . This trauma was associated with black eye.
